Whether you're a poet or a fiction writer, a non-fiction writer or a diarist, free-writing is an excellent way to generate new material. A writing prompt is given and a time limit set, then watch how fast your notebook gets filled. Each participant is free to read what they've written or to pass. This is not a workshop-style class where your writing is critiqued, but simply a safe and nurturing place for beginning writers through published authors to come and generate new material to be rearranged and played with later, back at your desk.
